The relaxation a rocking chair brings is not only for adults but can also benefit children as well. Studies have shown that the back and forth rocking movement provides a calming effect for those who engage in it. There are plenty of rocking chairs out there, so what's the secret to knowing which one is the right one for your child? You only need to know 3 things that will help you select the perfect one. Read on to find out what those three things are.
The third and probably the easiest of the three, is to know what your child's interests are. Today, there are multiple options for you to consider, not like in the olden days where the only choice was the traditional brown rocking chair. You can choose a traditional style rocker, in almost any color on the color palette and even have it personalized with the child's name. Or you can pick from any theme you can imagine ranging from animals, prince and princesses, careers such as a firefighter or policemen, hobbies like baseball, trains, racecars, ballet, or being an artist or musician. And for those that need it, there's even a \"Time-Out\" chair which has a working timer that you can set for up to 15 minutes. You might even want to consider letting your little one pick out their own chair. Sometimes they surprise us and choose something completely opposite from what we would have picked out for them. Remember, the more they like it, the more they will use it.
Babies are delicate creatures that need a great quantity of TLC, food, and plenty of sleep. Did you know that infants under 3 months are supposed to sleep up to 16 hours a day? If yours is having trouble sleeping, you might need to find yourself a comfy rocking chair so you can sit and rock your child to sleep. Using a rocking chair is a surefire remedy that will get your newborn snoring contentedly within minutes. A few weeks after returning from the hospital, our newborn daughter became colicky. Looking for an effective way to help her sleep better, my husband and I bought a white wicker rocking chair for our bedroom, and an outdoor rocking chair for our screened-in porch. These chairs helped us tremendously. Without them, I think we could have gone a bit bonkers. I mean, nothing else helped us lull our baby girl to sleep quite as effectively as those two chairs!
First, you need to decide between a traditional rocker and a glider. Traditional indoor rockers are the kind that rock on two long curved pieces while gliders are mechanical pieces of furniture that mimic the feeling of a rocking chair by gliding along rungs. There are pros and cons to both approaches. With a traditional rocking chair, there is no risk of mechanical creaking or grinding noises, but there is a risk of catching a toe, foot, hand, or tail under one of the rockers if you are not careful. With the glider, the rise can be more smooth, but the mechanical parts need to be covered up and the decorating options are not as great because there is upholstery on the chair. A traditional rocker is plain and you can dress it up as much or as little as you want.
Behavior of a Stressed Out Toddler. Little children do not understand what's going on when they're worried about mom coming home late than usual or Dad's implicit instructions not to disturb him when he's busy. Even a change to the big bed can be an earth shaking event when children are so attached to their cribs. Worry and anger can erupt in unusual behavior such as not wanting to spend time with the other kids, suffer frequent headaches and stomachaches. Changes in sleeping patterns, soiling and bedwetting are also symptoms of stress. You might observe her fear of loud noises, tantrums, nightmares or wakefulness at night - these should alert you to your child's emotional state.
